Nancy's 17-Year Journey at Ventura Family YMCA

Nancy has been a member of the Ventura Family YMCA in Ventura, California, for approximately 17 years and has been affiliated with YMCAs for a longer period. Her favorite activities at the YMCA include group exercise classes and swim classes.

She emphasized that the YMCA is important to her as it has provided her the chance to balance being a working mom while also making friends. Nancy previously worked for the Navy in electronic warfare and was introduced to the YMCA while living in San Diego. She relocated to Ventura in 1983, joined the Ventura YMCA, and became involved in Aqua Arthritis classes.

In addition to her membership, Nancy volunteers at the Ventura YMCA, specifically helping in the Aquatics department. Her responsibilities include taking attendance for classes, guiding parents to their swim classes, and interacting with families on the pool deck. Nancy has expressed her desire to continue volunteering in various departments at the YMCA.

When asked about how she embodies a welcoming spirit at the YMCA, Nancy stated that she encourages people to work out and take care of themselves, promotes a positive lifestyle, and enjoys giving compliments. She believes everyone needs a hug. Nancy is recognized as an enthusiastic member and volunteer, noted for her cheerful disposition and encouraging interactions with others at the facility.
